Course Objective
This course aims to cover all aspects of urbanization politics, urban planning, urban and architectural design, urban and natural environment, urban conservation and renewal, urban sociology, urban economy, urban management (urban area management).
Course Content
Urbanization dynamics in cities and socio-economic change and theories explaining them (Chicago School: evolutionist theories, Neo-Marxist and Neo-Weberian theories); the urban restructuring and its socio-spatial consequences, particularly after the 1980s in the world; The suburban; gentrification, tourism-oriented transformation; new residential areas in cities; new consumption places in cities; urbanization dynamics in late industrialized countries, migration; slum; informal economy; urban poverty
