Course Objective

To understand the phonetic, phonological, morphological, syntactic, and lexical features of Middle Turkish. To recognize works written in Middle Turkish and to be able to read these works in their original scripts. To analyze the linguistic features of Middle Turkish through texts.

Course Content

The influence of the period following the 12th century on the historical development of the Turkish language. Political, social, and geographical events of the Middle Turkish period. Understanding texts written in Arabic script. Distinguishing Middle Turkish from other periods and stages of the Turkish language. Reading and writing in Middle Turkish. Linguistic features of Middle Turkish. Conducting linguistic analyses of Middle Turkish texts.
