Course Objective

The PhD course on the Contemporary Balkan Politics is designed to challenge and discuss the political, economic and regional issues of the Balkan states and their policies in general. We will glue our historical knowledge of the Balkans with contemporary issues that are opened by the independent states. The discourse of our analyses will be towards the political and security issues of the Balkan states and their EU and NATO integration policies.

Course Content

In this course we will discuss issues such as: Territorial sovereignty and integrity in the Balkans, Economical independencies, Democratic ambiguities, Formation of new states, Inter culturalism, EU integration processes Neighborhood policies, Regional security and Financial instabilities as well as future perspectives of the Balkan and the Western Balkans and etc.
