Course Objective

To study the concept of mathematical modeling and its properties, to generate mathematical models for real life problems, and to examine the role of mathematical modeling in mathematics teaching.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Understands real life problems, generate mathematical solutions and develop mathematical modeling abilities.
  2. Explains his/her mathematical thinking and knowledge verbally and written effectively through using mathematical language, symbol system, diagram and graphics
  3. Discusses importance and role of mathematical modeling in mathematics teaching.
  4. Interprets the students' mathematical thinking process in the context of mathematical modeling.
  5. Designs mathematical modeling problems which can be used in mathematics teaching.
