Course Objective
The aim of the course is to evaluate the changes and effects of mental processes in the framework of information processing models while examining psychopathologies. By the end of the course, students will be able to understand how mental processes and psychopathological processes differ from normal mental processes. In addition, it is aimed that students have detailed information about structure and functioning of the brain, processing disorders in psychopathologies and methods of intervention to these disorders.
Course Content
In this course, the relationship between cognitive processes and abnormal behavior and mental health is discussed. The reasons for the emergence of adult psychopathologies are discussed in the light of cognitive theories and these are examined within an integrative approach according to recent research. The course is conducted in the form of presentations and discussions. During the course, students are encouraged to share their thoughts and think about the subjects critically.
