Course Objective
• understand and appreciate the nature and scope of business, and the role of business in society
• develop critical understanding of organisations, the markets they serve and the process of adding value
• evaluate business behaviour from the perspective of a range of stakeholders including owner/ shareholder, manager, employee, customer, supplier, lender and government
• develop an awareness of the political, economic, social, technological, legal, environmental and ethical issues associated with business activity
• develop quantitative, problem-solving, decision-making and communication skills
Course Content
The content of the course include:
• the enterprise system and other types of economic systems.
• business ethics apply to customers and other stakeholders in the business environment.
• the basic forms of business ownership.
• international business and the complexities of operating in a global environment.
• the basic functions of management and the skills required of managers working with different concepts of motivation.
• how a company utilizes human resource management to recruit, train, and retain employees.
• the marketing concept and the various elements of the marketing mix.
