Course Objective

  1. To provide students with information about scientific and experimental studies and researches on environment and energy in the building.
  2. This course examines the energy efficient building concept, its foundations and principles.
  3. To convey information about national and international organizations working on sustainable environment and energy efficiency.
  4. It is aimed to study computer aided energy efficient building design and applications.
  5. Understanding building and environment modeling issues with sample applications created using computer support.

Course Content

  • Energy requirement in buildings,
  • Skills to use renewable energy sources,
  • Relationship between climatic data and building energy consumption,
  • Energy use relationship with the building envelope (heating, cooling, lighting),
  • The effect of solar energy on architectural design,
  • Energy efficiency design criteria,
  • Relationship between energy use and environmental pollution; contains topics,
  • The course content includes lectures, discussions, research and project presentations.
