Course Objective

The aim of this course is to define the basic economic concepts and the relation of the construction sector. This course provides students with an understanding of basic micro and macro economic approaches and their impact on the construction sector.

Course Content

Construction economy in the micro-economic level, actors in the construction economy (customers, contractors, architects, engineers, inspectors, etc.). The construction economy at the macroeconomic level is the relationship between the construction sector and all other sectors within the national economy. Efficiency principles for employment in the construction economy at the macroeconomic level. Budgeting methods; alternate product costing methods, pricing and decision-making process; production cost, project cost, process and JIT costing, decentralization and transfer pricing in production, efficiency measurement.
