Course Objective
The course aims to provide basic information on single structure protection and historical environmental protection.
Course Content
Theoretical basis of preserving historic buildings. The development of contemporary conservation theory from the 19th century to the present day. Research, protection measures and definitions of values to be preserved before restoration. Restoration techniques (consolidation, integration, renewal etc.), examples from the restorations. Selection of protected areas, methods of analysis, examples of protection on street, neighborhood , urban and rural areas. Legal and organizational aspects of protection in Turkey. Conservation training.

Course Learning Outcomes
- Conservation disciplines in archaeological sites
- Documentation and conservation approach in urban and rural areas. Examining the concept of urban transformation.
- Turkey's World Heritage concept and the World Heritage List in recognition of their domain
- The industrial heritage, industrial buildings and structures in the world and in Turkey; develop new usage recommendations for these structures that have lost their original function.
- The preservation of the historical structures that have lost their function by re-functionalizing and their contribution to cultural tourism
