ISF 205 - The History of Hadith

Course Objective

1. To be able to see the development stages of hadith history and to use historical hadith resources in academic studies, (1.1.)

2. To be able to solve the problems encountered in some contemporary period hadith history studies by using research methods (2.3.)

3. To be able to independently conduct a study on hadith history (3.1.1.)

4. To be able to critically evaluate the knowledge and skills acquired in hadith history (3.2.1.)

5. To be able to systematically transfer the current developments in the history of hadith to the groups in and out of the field by supporting them with quantitative and qualitative data in written, oral and visual form. (3.3.1.)

 

Course Content

In this course, information will be given about the process from the beginning of the narration to the basic hadith sources; Its main phases such as Hızfu'l-Hadîs, Kitâbetü'l-Hadîs, Tadwînü'l-Hadîs and Tasnîfü'l-Kutub will be analyzed and evaluated through selected texts.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Realizes the stages of ilmu'l-hadith by following the developments of a branch of science
  2. learns to identify hadiths from their original sources and to evaluate them in a holistic manner.
  3. By gaining the ability to identify hadiths from their original sources, reaches the source of the hadiths that are the subject of the sciences of Kalam and Fiqh and evaluates them in a holistic manner.
  4. Learns to identify hadiths from their original sources and evaluate them in a holistic manner, reaching the source of the hadiths used in the Quran interpretation and evaluating them in a holistic manner.
  5. Learns how the soundness of hadiths is determined
