Course Objective

This course intends to provide the understanding of migration phenomenon in Turkey and the world and of analyzing the policy and social attitudes as well as aims to develop an analytical and critical attitude and idea about migration. In doing so, this course also discusses various aspects of population theories and many other relevant issues. 

Course Content

Social change and migration along with population theories and some of their aspects; migration movements, immigrant groups, migration theories, immigration and integration policies, integration and opposition movements of immigrants.Besides these, the difference between the refugee  and migration concepts and Turkey's policies with refugee issues are also discussed.

  1. Develop a critical approach to migration and social change
  2. To develop a critical approach to migration policies
  3. To ensure that prejudices about immigrants are problematized
