Course Objective

The purpose of this course is to enable students to acquire knowledge about addictive behavior and to learn about the different types of addiction—substance-related and behavioral (gambling, technology, etc.)—as well as their symptoms and effects, and methods of prevention and treatment.

Course Content

Substance dependence, behavioral addictions, risk factors, protective factors, and intervention strategies.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. The students define addiction.
  2. The students classify addictive substances.
  3. The students identify addictive substances and processes.
  4. The students can discuss the relationship between biological structures and human qualities.
  5. Reward, punishment, addiction, motivation, will be able to be described the processes of learning and memory neurochemical.
