Course Objective

In this course, students aimed to know the general characteristics of childhood and their problematics. At the same time, during this period students will be able to gain general information about the specific psychopathology that may arise.This course introduces child mental disorders based on the definitions explained in DSM-5TR (APA, 2022). While introducing the defined psychopathologies in DSM-5TR, the history of mental disorders, major explanations of the childhood disorders according to the significant theories in the history of psychology will be also discussed within the course.

Course Content

In this course, students aimed to know the general characteristics of childhood and their problematics. At the same time, during this period students will be able to gain general information about the specific psychopathology that may arise

Basic information about assessment, universal classification system, etiology, epidemiology, and major treatment approaches will be covered in this course. Students will have basic understanding about the child psychopathology field after completing this course
