Course Objective

Defining and making sense of the daily life and material culture tools of Ottoman society in the historical process.

Course Content

The emergence of daily life and material culture studies and research areas. Elements of the Ottoman material culture world (housing, nutrition, clothing, entertainment, etc.). Historical sources of Ottoman material culture, continuity and change of Ottoman material culture, lifestyles and consumption patterns of social groups, westernization.
