Course Objective
The purpose of this lesson is to stress the success of Osman Gazi and Orhan in laying the foundation of Ottoman State following their arrival in Anatolia. To explain the reasons behind Bayezid I’s defeat by Timur near Ankara. Following this the period of Interregnum will be explained and the details of how successful Mehmet Çelebi was in restoring the Ottoman power. Following this vital information will be giving regarding how Mehmed II, Selim, the Grim, and Süleyman, the Law Giver carried the Empire to its zenith through their successful administrations and conquests.
As such the students’ ability to study and analyse will be improved. The student will be able to evaluate and grasp the foundation, recess and rise of an empire.
Course Content
In this lesson career we will study and examine the struggle of Osman Gazi and Orhan Gazi and how successful they were following the advent of Turks into Anatolia. We will also throw light on how successful Murad I was in administering the Ottoman State and the reasons behind Bayezid I’s defeat at Çubuk near Ankara, and how successful Mehmet Çelebi in relaying the foundation of the Empire. Furthermore a comparative analyses of Mehmet II’s endeavour in conquering Istanbul and putting an end to the Byzantine Empire. We will further examine what were the reasons behind Selim’s campaign gains the Safavids and Memluks, and also Süleyman’s campaigns both to the east and west.
We will, in this class, also stress on the topics and terminologies that will facilitate the students to grasp the initiatives undertaken both by the Ottoman Empire and the Western states in their struggles against each other.

- The purpose of this lesson is to facilitate the students’ ability to comprehend the topics of the history of Ottoman State and initiatives undertaken by the Western powers to bring the Empire to its fall. In this class students will improve their analytical approach to the topics. In this class students will be able to analyse and comprehend the topics.
