Course Objective
The purpose of this course is to provide students with a multidimensional understanding of trauma and to develop social work intervention skills for individuals, families, and communities exposed to trauma. Students will be able to identify the psychosocial impacts of trauma, implement approaches to support post-traumatic recovery, and develop an ethically grounded professional stance.
Course Content
In this course, the concept of trauma, trauma theories and definitions, biopsychosocial effects of trauma on the individual, post-traumatic stress disorder, accompanying conditions, social work interventions in different trauma situations and sample cases will be discussed.
