Course Objective

The aim of this course is to examine the characteristics of the demographic structure in Turkey and the effects of its development on health.

Course Content

The content of this course includes population and health issues in Turkey and worldwide, demographic transition and demographic research, and health problems in developing and developed countries.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Explain the fundamental concepts of demography and demographic data sources, and evaluate population determination and registration systems in Türkiye.
  2. Explain and interpret the basic epidemiological and demographic indicators used to assess health and nutritional status.
  3. Analyze population pyramids and the demographic transition process, and evaluate their effects on health, disease patterns, and health expenditures.
  4. Evaluate the effects of demographic factors such as fertility, maternal and child health, urbanization, and migration on public health.
  5. Compare and evaluate the development of health policies in Türkiye from the Republican era to the present, health workforce issues, and the health problems of developed and developing countries.
