Course Objective

The aim of this course is to make the diagnosis of patients with life threatening health problems, ability to provide nursing care systematically and holistically in intensive care unit to gain.

Course Content

This course focuses on the design and organization of the intensive care unit. identification, fluid-electrolyte aid-base unchanges, mechanical ventilation, noninvasive and invasive The monitoring; ECG  hemodynamic monitoring, sedation, intracranial pressure increase monitoring, enteral and parenteral nutritional, psychosocial needs of patient and family in intensive care unit; sensory loading, deprivation, anxiety, depression, delirium, infection control and nursing care, basic hygienic care and preventive approaches. Patient care management in student's intensive care units focuses on improving skills.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. To be able to explain the professional, ethical and legal responsibilities of the ICU nurse.
  2. To be able to make continuous assessment in acute and critical patients in intensive care unit
  3. To be able to explain the physiopathology of health problems in acute and critical patients in ICU
  4. To be able to analyze the data of acute and critical patients in intensive care unit, physiological and psychosocial problems early diagnosis.
  5. To be able to list nursing interventions to maintain system functions in acute and critical patients in intensive care unit.
  6. To be able to reach new information and maintain individual development of intensive care nursing.
