HEM 228 - Social Sensitivity

The aim of this course is to enable students to recognize the society in which they live, to develop sensitivity to the problems of the society, to recognize non-governmental organizations dealing with social problems, to develop strategies that will contribute to the solution of social problems and to realize their responsibilities towards society in a team work and at the same time by taking individual initiatives.

This course includes; The Concept of Social Awareness, Roles and Responsibilities in Creating Social Awareness (Legislation), The Concept of Non-Governmental Organizations and Social Awareness (Social Responsibility) Projects, Resource and Project Management in Non-Governmental Organizations, Social Awareness Projects for Children, Elderly, Disabled People, Implementation of the Project and Evaluation of the Project.

Students must attend 70% of the theoretical hours and 80% of the practical hours. Each student must monitor his/her own attendance to the course. Students who fail to fulfill the attendance requirement cannot take the final and make-up exams.
Students are expected to enter the class on time and fulfill their responsibilities related to their homework.
