Course Objective
Within the scope of this course, the history and basic concepts of plant tissue culture, establishment of sterile working conditions and fundamental laboratory techniques, types of plant tissue culture, organogenesis and micropropagation, somaclonal variation, production of plant secondary metabolites, and methods of germplasm conservation are covered theoretically.
Course Content
This course covers the history and basic concepts of plant tissue culture; establishing a sterile working environment and basic laboratory techniques; types of plant tissue culture; organogenesis and micropropagation; somaclonal variation; plant secondary metabolite production; and germplasm preservation methods, all theoretically.

- Explains the basic concepts and historical development of plant tissue culture.
- Evaluates the importance of plant tissue culture in agriculture and biotechnology.
- Applies the requirements of a sterile working environment and basic sterilization techniques.
- Analyzes the roles of plant growth regulators (auxins, cytokinins, etc.) in tissue culture.
- Prepares appropriate culture media for plant tissue culture and explains the components of the medium.
- Explains the use of tissue culture techniques in secondary metabolite production.
- Compares cell, tissue, and organ culture techniques.
