Course Objective

To enable students to learn the fundamentals of biochemistry.

To teach students the structure of proteins.

To help students apply the theoretical knowledge they have learned.

Course Content

This course includes the energetics of life, nucleic acids, the three-dimensional structure of proteins, carbohydrates,  lipids, enzymes as biological catalysts.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Learn the foundations of biochemistry.
  2. Learn the three-dimensional structure of proteins
  3. Describe the function of proteins
  4. Explain the function of enzymes as biological catalysts.
  5. Describe the chemical logic of metabolism.
  6. Learn the importance of lipids and membranes in biochemistry
