Course Objective

This course aims to rethink the cinematographic form through interior spaces in films as a means of constructing an architectural narrative.

Course Content

This course focuses on the relationship between space and representation, which are the main components of both interior architecture and cinema, and the metaphorical use of architecture in cinema through the films to be watched and film readings to be made. The ways of interior spaces in cinema will be discussed at different scales through different themes. Analyses on the relationship between character representation and plot in films will be carried out through different methods such as textual analyses, collage studies, artificial intelligence supported presentations.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. To comprehend the relationship between cinema and space through the discipline of interior architecture
  2. To gain the ability to analyse cinematographically narrated spaces
  3. To comprehend the contributions of interior architecture to the art of cinema
  4. To examine the relationship between time and space through cinema
