Course Objective

  1. To provide understanding of the meaning and history of the concept of quality
  2. To teach the Management Aspects of Quality
  3. To teach tools and techniques of quality assurance and control systems
 

 

 

IV. To teach the control charts used for variables and attributes during quality control

Course Content

This course covers the fundamental methods of quality engineering. Quality excellence models, cost models, quality audit programs, quality information systems will be discussed. Examples of actual case studies from industry will supplement the lectures.

70% attendance is mandatory.

Midterm and final exams will be held face-to-face in classrooms.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Understands the definitions of basic concepts related to quality and quality management and the historical development process of quality in engineering applications.
  2. Understands the relationships between quality and management processes.
  3. Summarizes quality data using statistical tools and techniques and makes inferences.
  4. Selects appropriate quality tools and techniques for engineering applications; prepares control charts for quality monitoring and improvement and interprets them.
