Course Objective

I. To provide information about the concept, function and historical development of management

II. To explain management theories, approaches and current aspects of these theories

III. To convey management functions such as planning, organizing, executing, coordination, control and decision making and how they should be used in business life

IV. To provide understanding of the causes of conflicts in organizations and how to manage them

V. To provide information about the concept of lean organization and its’ application areas

VI. To provide understanding of the details about management, lean organization and time management concepts and their use in business life.

Management Concept and Definition, Historical Development of Management Theory, Human Relations Movement and Basic Approaches in Organization Theory, Modern Management Thought and Organization Theory, Management Functions (Planning, Management Functions-Organization-Execution-Coordination-Control-Decision Making), Causes and Management of Conflicts in Organizations, Lean Organization, Other Current Topics in Management Science, Management and Leadership, Time Management

  1. link corporate strategy, organizational structure, organizational culture and leadership with organizational behavior and human resources management practices to design high performance organizations.
  2. define and understand the fundamental concepts of Strategic Human Resource Management
  3. have an understanding on evolution of HRM from personnel management
  4. be familiar with and interested in the concepts, theories and fundamentals of human resource side of management
  5. use, shape and change human resource processes like performance management, training and development, career management, job analysis, compensation and etc. for creating a competitive advantage for the organizations.
  6. To develop knowledge, understanding and conpetence on the fundamentals of human behavior, perception, motivation, personality and interpersonal dynamicsin organizations
