Course Objective

To train Turkish teachers who will help to explain grammar issues based on the Secondary School Turkish Curriculum; to be able to understand Turkish grammar topics and processes; to be able to comprehend grammar teaching methods and techniques; to be able to understand grammar topics and develop activities.

Course Content

Basic concepts of grammar; the teaching of grammar and the purpose of grammar instruction; an evaluation of models and approaches to grammar instruction (Behaviorist, Cognitive, and Constructivist) in Turkish Language Curriculum; The Turkish Language Curriculum and the sequence to be followed in teaching grammar; methods and techniques, examples of activities; text-based grammar instruction and its applications.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Explains basic concepts and terms related to grammar.
  2. Explains the purposes and functions of grammar instruction.
  3. It examines models and approaches to teaching grammar in Turkish language curriculum programs.
  4. Compares and evaluates behavioral, cognitive, and constructivist approaches to the teaching of grammar.
  5. Selects and applies methods, techniques, and activities that can be used in teaching grammar in accordance with instructional objectives.
  6. Designs and develops activities for teaching grammar.
  7. Implements and evaluates activities designed for text-based grammar instruction.
