Course Objective

To reveal the relationship between language and society, to teach linguistic variations and language policies applied in Turkey.

Course Content

Language-society relations with all its aspects. Language diffusion, primitive language-advanced language, standard language-dialect, artificial languages, secret languages, pidgin and creole, climate/geography language relationship, language and gender, forms of address and politeness in language, politic-religion-media, and language , language planning in Turkey.

  4. Knows the history of language policies implemented in Turkey since the Tanzimat.
  5. Knows how languages ​​expand/spread.
