Course Objective
The objective of this course is to provide students with knowledge regarding the developmental characteristics, assessment and evaluation processes, evidence-based educational practices, and legal regulations concerning individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder.
Course Content
This course examines the classification and developmental characteristics of individuals with intellectual disability and autism spectrum disorder, while exploring screening, educational diagnosis, and assessment processes in detail. Within the scope of the course, evidence-based practices and best practices tailored to the educational needs of individuals with special needs, the psychological processes experienced by families, and strategies to support family involvement are discussed. In addition, legal regulations in our country and the structure and modules of the Ministry of National Education support education programs are addressed from a professional perspective.

Explanations
Assignment Scope: Students will choose from a designated list of books or films themed around intellectual disability or autism spectrum disorder, and structure their analyses based on the guide questions provided to them during the preparation process.
Presentation and Reporting: The work prepared based on the selected medium will be reported and submitted at the end of the term, and evaluated through in-class presentations.
Rules
Course Delivery Method: Classes will be conducted through the delivery of theoretical foundations alongside case study analyses, group discussions, and video analyses.
Attendance Obligation: In accordance with university regulations, there is an attendance requirement for theoretical classes, and students are expected to follow the course processes regularly.
Communication Channels: Announcements and notifications regarding the course will be made through official systems (Microsoft Teams-Email), and it is important for students to check their institutional emails regularly.
Originality and Plagiarism: All assignments and reports must be original and must not violate academic ethical rules.
Timely Submission and Presentation: Assignments and presentations must be completed in full in accordance with the announced schedule.
Compliance with the Guide Questions: In the presentations and reports to be prepared, it is mandatory to fully address and answer the guide questions shared by the instructor.
