Course Objective
The objectives of this course are to: 1. To provide an understanding of the workings of money, financial markets and financial institutions within the financial system of a country. 2. To provide an understanding of the theories and policy issues in the field of money and banking. 3. To enable students to make better-informed decision as a consumer, saver, borrower or a business manager. 4. To enable students to understand conventional financial theories as a pre-requisite for higher level Islamic Banking and Finance courses.
Course Content
This course familiarises the students with the role of money, central bank, financial markets and financial institutions in the economy. The course draws the links between the financial system and economic activity in a country. This would enable students to apply the knowledge that they get from this course in making economic decisions as well as assisting them to comprehend and evaluate the current economic situations.
Course Learning Outcomes
- Will be able to explain the effects of monetary policy implementations on the economy,
- Will be able to analyze the relationship between money and inflation,
- Will be able to define the monetary policy instruments of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey,
- Will be able to define the duties and authorities of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey,
- Will be able to explain the financial structure in Turkey,
