Course Objective
The purpose of this course is to teach students foundations of commercial law in Turkey.

Introduction to Turkish Commercial Law; Commercial Enterprise in Turkish Commercial Law; Commercial Matters, Commercial Provisions, Commercial Litigation; Traders; Assistants Of Traders; Commercial Books, Trade Registry, Open Account; Trade Name, Commercial Enterprise Name, Trademarks; Investment, Intellectual Property and Patent Rights; A Brief Introduction to Unfair Competition; Commercial Companies;Legal Framework of Company Merger and Takeover; Outbound Acquisitions of Turkish Companies; A Brief Introduction to Commercial Papers
Course Learning Outcomes
- Students will be able to define the concepts of a commercial enterprise and a merchant and explain their legal consequences.
- Students will be able to identify the concept of commercial transactions and analyze the special provisions and consequences applied to them.
- Students will be able to define different types of commercial companies (such as joint-stock, limited liability, and general partnerships) and explain their establishment and operational processes.
- Students will be able to define the concept and types of negotiable instruments (such as promissory notes, bills of exchange, and checks) and explain their transfer and legal consequences.
- Students will be able to identify cases of unfair competition and analyze the importance and legal consequences of ethical principles in commercial activities.
