Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University was founded by the İlim Yayma Foundation as a foundation university subject to the provisions of Higher Education Law No. 2547 concerning foundation higher education institutions. The İlim Yayma Foundation was established on 31.03.1973 and was recognized as a foundation working for the public benefit by Council of Ministers Decree No. 7/9268 dated 31.12.1974.
The Foundation was established to carry out the following activities with the aim of promoting the dissemination of knowledge in Turkey and abroad, and it provides financial and in-kind support to talented students at every level of education.
It also constructs and operates school, dormitory, library and course buildings, and provides financial and in-kind assistance to all kinds of natural and legal persons as well as official institutions and organizations working towards the same goal.
