Dersin Amacı
To teach students the basics of Spanish, one of the most spoken languages in the world.
Ders İçeriği
The course emphasizes elementary proficiency in listening, oral expression, and reading and writing of Spanish, as well as basic understanding of Spanish speaking cultures.
Grammar study will focus on basic Spanish language structures as will include present tense of regular, irregular verbs, special verbs and reflexive verbs, descriptive adjectives, possessives, demonstratives and quantifiers.
Vocabulary studied will include clothes, family, physical appearance and adjectives about character and should include topical word sets such as vocabulary of hobbies, preferences, leisure and daily routine.
This course is an interactive language class in which the students participate in interactive activities, including listening and responding.
Students should regularly demonstrate knowledge of new vocabulary words and verb conjugations.
Students should regularly respond in Spanish to questions asked by the professor. Gradually, students will be able to express phrases that are more complex orally and in writing. Students must turn in weekly homework assignments.
In class exams, including a midterm and a final. Part of each exam will include questions about cultural topics related to Spanish-speaking cultures.
Oral exams with emphasis on comprehension, and accuracy of grammatical structures.
Dersin Öğrenme Çıktıları
- Demonstrate understanding of basic spoken Spanish, including simple statements, questions and conversations on familiar topics. Speak Spanish in basic sentences and respond to questions using acceptable pronunciation. Demonstrate the ability to read and comprehend dialogues and readings, especially by using general contexts and cognates to infer meaning of new vocabulary in selected passages. Write sentences, phrases, paragraphs and short compositions that show the appropriate use of basic Spanish grammatical structures. Identify basic cultural elements and the diversity of Spanish speaking communities.
